When Starmer became Party Leader I got into a bit of an argy-bargy with a colleague who said, “You’ll see. It will be different once he becomes PM.” With my cynical hat firmly in place, I countered with, “He’s showing us every day who he is. He’s not going to change when he becomes PM.” I quit the Labour Party when Starmer said that MPs couldn’t support strikers by going on their picket lines. That was it for me. A Labour Party that doesn’t support labourers. There may have been some positive things accomplished in the past two years, however, as you point out, Labour has become a party without a vision, and without a vision, these accomplishments are arbitrary and don’t create a cohesive through line that explains what kind of Britain the Labour Party wants us to be part of. His being portrayed as a steady hand and a ‘grown up’ , for me, just reinforced an elitist loop that doesn’t effectively change anything. There are times, and this is one of them, when I take no satisfaction in having been right.
I think the crux of Labour Together's whole problem has been that in their arrogance they've had no grasp of basic logic.
Corbyn's manifesto was hugely popular with the general public. The nation didn't reject the left, they rejected Corbyn (almost entirely because of the internal backstabbing, intended to sabotage the party and oust the left, plus the collusion of the media). Labour Together, and Starmer, we're spooked by a right-wing minority just because the right wing is always amplified more by the predominantly right wing press - and, well - Facebbok - but to then think that they should pander to Reform voters just defies all common sense.
I'm not blowing smoke up your arse Owen, but I hope at some point in the future you'll run for office. We so desperately need someone with intelligence, presence, passion and a strong sense of morality and social justice.

the draconian measures against peaceful Palestinian
resistance, the disgraceful removal of Jeremy Corbyn from the Party on the false charge of
antisemitism, which, even if true, did not seem to have bothered his conscience when he was in JCs shadow cabinet right until KS became leader himself.
Just looking from another country I watch as low income people had their heating subsidies taken away and courgeous young woman stand (with no hands) in parliament giving a heartfelt speech about how cuts to persons with disabilities would be affected. Problems with Health Care and disgusting policies and actions on Gaza. He is on the record as saying that it was perfectly fine for Israel (who has never had a problem defended itself) to starve, withold water and electricity all the while spending taxpapers money with daily flights over Gaza then reporting to the Israelis so their bombs would be as deadly as possible. Starmer is a human rights lawyer and has no excuse for his actions - not to mention arresting 90 year olds in wheelchairs for protesting the genocide, then making Palestine Action a terrorist group by law. Disgusting!! Media events and chats don't go away and hopefully one day he will be held account for these unlawful disgraceful events. I am sorry that Britain has been subjected to such reprehensible rulings by a Prime Minister who knows better.
